Week Four SOC!!

This weeks colors are Charcoal Grey & Pale Pink!

I loved playing with these colors! I had so many ideas I wanted to do with it but I still have more cupcakes to paint for my friend's kitchen so I tried to keep the feel of it the same as my other two cupcakes. I can't wait to play with the color combination more though, I feel like there are a lot of possibilities.  I used my phone's camera to take the pictures so its not the best quality photo but you get the idea :)

I painted a paper first to use on the canvas:

Week 3 SOC!

I'm trying to make a post on my phone so we will see how this looks! :) I was extremely busy last week and was unable to get week 2 of summer of color done but I did get another cupcake completed for this weeks color prompt, purple and lime green!
I'm not a huge fan of this one, I just couldn't really figure out how to work those two colors together! I still have a lot to learn.

I am also participating in Junelle Jacobsen's Wild Art Summer : Wildflowers and it is currently in its first week. I have been soaking up her videos and now I'm ready to tackle some of the projects. She does such beautiful art! All I had time for today was some quick sketches of flowers, but it's a start :)

I can't wait to see how I do in her lessons! I'll be back next week :)

Summer of Color Week One!

Wow its amazing how life can really get in the way, I haven't posted in a very long time.  I haven't done much art either.  After dealing with a lot of issues last year I have decided to get back on my art horse and start doing something I love, for myself, again.  What better way to push me to start then to join in on Kristin's Summer of Color! The first week's colors are turquoise and citron so I started out by painting paper using these colors and some stamps.
The citron kind of looks yellow on my computer when I scanned it in but it still looks cool :)

3/4 face

Here is a 3 quarters face I did based on the lesson by Tamara laporte! I love her fabulous faces class! It is still mostly front facing, I need to work on the 3/4 view more. :)

Collage assignment

Here is an assignment for one of my classes. It drove me up the wall lol. It is a self portrait collage. I tore a lot of magazines to get all the pieces I needed, this was so time consuming. Definitely not my forte but it was a lesson in visual texture so I suppose it was worth it :)

Journal page

Just wanted to share real quick a page I have done for my art journal. I hate the other pages I've done so far but this one I really like. This journal hasn't yet turned into the amazing ones I always see but hopefully once I muddle and get through this one, I'll know a little better for the next go around!

Small update

So I have been avoiding doing a post because I don't have any photos uploaded yet of what I have been doing.  I will try to get some of that up this week, but mainly I have been busy.  Working 40 hours a week and I am now going back to school! I have decided to go ahead and get my art degree.  I am currently taking a class which I think is great for all artists to take.  It looks into the fears of choosing art as your career choice.  It looks at the legal aspects, what doors it can open (or close) for you, what it really takes.  I think it really touches home for me, I have a lot of these fears we have discussed.  I feel like I'm not a real artist, I don't have a unique style yet, I don't know if I can make a living from it, etc.. It is a great class I am excited to be a part of it.

I hope everyone who is a part of Life Book is enjoying it! I see a lot of posts concerning it and it looks amazing.  I wish I could have been a part but my decision to go back to school has strained me considerable finance wise.  40 hours a week barely covers the tuition/books/bills, my money is 100% exhausted. but it will hopefully be worth it in the end *fingers crossed*

Another exciting thing! One of my other classes requires that we do an art journal, so now I am really pushed to do one.  I have been wanting to do one, but I had no idea how to go about it.  So here it goes :) I will post that as I progress in it, should be interesting.

Well that is it for now, I hope to show some pictures soon!
